HWC Baseball Week 9 Recap

Wow, What a week!...For me at least. I was down 6-5 to RFTR after Wednesday, and came back to win big! I moved up to 6th again, so if I stay here, I'll have a chance at the cup. I'll get to the games in a second, but let's see how the points are scored. On offense there are Runs, Hits, Home Runs, RBI's, Stolen Bases and Strike Outs. On the defensive side It's all pitching with Wins, Losses Saves, K's ERA and WHIP. Scoring combines like This. Team A wins 4 stats, and team B wins 8, with the teams tying one. Team A's record for the week is 4-8-1, where team B is 8-4-1. and now for the best games in Baseball!

Cookeville Engineers - 8
RFTR - 5
I took this game on sheer upkeep. RFTR has yet to realize that he only has 1 active starting pitcher. With that, he is certain most weeks to win ERA and WHIP, and usually winning Saves and Losses, but as for Wins and K's, they're hopeless. Speaking ofK's, a neat side not on my Engineers, I am 9-0-0 no for offensive K's, and have the fewest at 244. I won K's by 13 btw. On offense I was 2 stolen bases away from a clean sweep. I went 6-1-0 on offense with a great game for the Engineers. 66/197 (.335 Team BA) 38 Runs, 37 RBI's, 8 Home Runs and 4 stolen bases with only 34 K's.
Game MVP: Chone Figgins - 9/18 with 5 runs, 2 RBI's and 3 Stolen Bases (that makes 8/9 in just 31 games)
Game Goat: Michael Barret - 1/10 with only one run. I dropped him for Mike Napoli, the promising catcher from the Dodgers.

Robots Eat Babies - 3
Fmragtops Spewers 9 (Tie in K's)
The Man slips even further down the pecking order. He's now all the way back in 14th, only 1/2 a game out of last place, and the prospect does not look good. Simply put, REB was dominated. FM was close to, or actually did double most of The Man's offense. 46-22 in Runs, 66-41 in Hits, 10-6 in Home Runs, and 42-21 in RBI's. Plus Pitching wasn't much better. This could be the dreaded "rebuild year" for the Robots.
Game MVP: Gary Sheffield - 10/29 with 4 home runs 9 RBI's, 11 Runs scored 2 Stolen bases, and only 3 K's.
Game Goat: Todd Jones - 2 appearances, the first was 3 hits and 2 runs in 1/3 inning, the other was 7 hits and 5 runs in one inning. A week ERA of 47.25, and a WHIP of 9.75.

Baseball Rulz! - 6
webcats -7
On offense this was a decent game, but on offense both teams did very well. Sssteve had a team ERA of 3.22...and lost. Usually an ERA of that low will get you a win most weeks. This was also a classic game of the tortoise vs. the hare. Sssteve had all the stars, but the cats were consistently good and because of that took the game.
Game MVP: Manny Ramirez - 10/22 with a home run, 2 RBI's, 4 runs, and only 3 K's.
Game Goat: Scott Podsednik - On the DL since mid-April, and he's still starting.

The PAWs - 6
Wookies Will Repeat - 6 (Tie in Batting Average)
Both teams had over 60 hits and Lawhawk hoarded 13 home runs. On pitching the teams weren't that bad, but they absolutely could not win. Wookies won it with a mere 2 wins, but had 6 losses. A close game that could have gone either way, but didn't.
Game MVP: Ramon Hernandez - 7/19 with 2 home runs, 10 RBI's and 5 Runs with only 1 K.
Game Goat: Bartolo Colon - 1 game, 6 1/3 innings, giving up 11 hits and 8 earned runs

PFB - 7
bRight & Early - 6
This game was very much a split decision. Both teams split offense and defense as evenly as possible. Nothing much else can be said about this one.
Game MVP: Vladimir Guerrero - 11/26 with 2 Home Runs, 8 RBI's, and 5 runs.
Game Goat: Felix Hernandez - 1 game, 6 innings, 7 earned runs, and gave up 3 home runs.

Anna Benson Is Yummy - 7
Big Damn Heroes - 6
BDH had a .311 team average, 70 hits, 11 home runs, no losses and 4 saves, and he STILL lost. BDH is very much a power hitter, but facing Wyatt's speedy runners and sharp pitching, the law-man takes home the W, even though it wasn't by much.
Game MVP: Chad Gaudin - 2 games and 2 wins in 11 2/3 innings with just 2 earned.
Game Goat: Mark Hendrickson - 4 1/3 innings and 5 earned given up for an ERA of 10.38 and a WHIP of 2.08

Jax Juggernauts - 4
Maximum Poo - 8 (Tie in Stolen Bases)
Well, this ends Safety Man's winning streak, but he is still in the #13 spot. However, this loss puts him 4 games back from 11th and 12th. This however gives Tyler 5 weeks in a row of not only winning, but only allowing his opponent 4 or less points Actually, PFB is the only team to have scored more than 4 points against Tyler. But this will be good, Tyler is playing Vex this week in the battle of #1 and #2!
Game MVP: Magglio Ordonez - (2nd time in 3 weeks) 12/30 with a home run, 5 RBI's, 7 Runs and only 3 K's.
Game Goat: Nick Johnson - On the DL since the beginning of the season with a broken leg. UPDATE YOUR ROSTER!!!

Leones de Yucatan - 8
Joe's Keizer Killers - 4 (Tie in Stolen Bases)
Joe played well, but Vex played better. After losing to the worst team in the league last week, Vex came back strong ths week. Aside from getting demolished, there's not much more to say about Joe's Killers, except that they are back in last with the cats, 27.5 games out of 1st. One thing for Jow, if it weren't for Miguel Cabrera's 11 K's, he would have only had 24 offensive K's. That's really good, and those 11 K's are what kept him off the MVP list.
Game MVP: Matt Holiday - 10/28 with 2 knocks, 5 RBI's, and 4 Runs with only 3 K's.
Game Goat: Jeff Kent - 1/22 this week and only 2/33 since May 26th, dropping his season average from .295 all the way down to .255. He needs a slump buster.

Well, that ends the recap of week 9, and let's see how the rankings got shaken up, as well as Week 10's matches. And remember, the game of the week, Tyler D. Vs. Vex in the Clash of the Titans! As of right now it's 11-0...VEX! Check next week to see if Tyler can come back to stay in the top spot.
