HWC Baseball Week 11 Recap

I'm a little late again since I was in Florida this past weekend, and didn't really have time to work on the blogs. But Week 11 is over, and I'll be brief about the games. But first, let's take a look at the scoring. Pairs of teams go head to head for a week adding up stats and the best score in each stat gets a win. The other team gets a loss for that stat. There are 13 stats to combine; On offense there are Runs, Hits, Home Runs, RBI's, Stolen Bases and Strike Outs. On the defensive side It's all pitching with Wins, Losses Saves, K's ERA and WHIP. Scoring combines like This. Team A wins 4 stats, and team B wins 8, with the teams tying one. Team A's record for the week is 4-8-1, where team B is 8-4-1. Now to the games.

Cookeville Engineers - 6
Wookies Will Repeat - 7
I could have had this game so easily, if only the Engineers had decent pitching. Most of my pitchers had poor outings, and 4 pitchers had over a 6.0 ERA for the week. If it weren't for the Wookies having a late week pitching-suckage, I would have been demolished.
Game MVP: Justin Verlander - Gets his first no-no of his career in just over 40 starts, and a second win later that week.
Game Goat: Mike Napoli - 0/Everything this week

Robots Eat Babies - 6
JAX Juggernauts - 6 (Tie in Home Runs)
As evenly distributed of a battle as you can get. Both teams had 3 wins and 3 losses in pitching and hitting, with the lone tie in hitting. Poor Jax is getting injuritis something bad on his pitching staff. 4 starters are on the DL, and he hasn't replaced them. Safety man...you do realize that when you place some one on the DL, it gives you an open roster slot until they get back....right?
Game MVP: Carlos Zambrano - It's a shame the Cubs suck so much. Zambrano was 1-1 in his 2 starts giving up just 2 runs in 17 innings and racking up 18 K's.
Game Goat: Curt Shilling - 1 game, 5 innings, 5 runs, and now he's on the DL.

Baseball Rulz! - 4
Anna Benson Is Yummy - 8 (Tie in Losses)
If there's a long standing battle between Wyatt and Sssteve, then Wyatt just took the latest battle by storm. He can hit like a mad man but he just can't score. Or at least on the diamond. In hte mean time, Sssteve keeps dropping like he's NOT hot. He's only got one winning week in the last 8.
Game MVP: Jake Peavy - 7 Inning shut-out with only 2 hits, and racked up 8 K's.
Game Goat: Orlando Hernandez - 0-2 giving up 10 runs in just 10 1/3 innings.

The PAWs - 8
Fmragtops Spewers - 5
Pitcher/Hitter all the way. Lawhawk rocked the batting statistics handily, and then took a couple of the pitching just to get some insurance.
Game MVP: Corey Hart - 9/27 with 3 Home runs, 8 RBI's, and 4 Runs to go with a couple stolen bases
Game Goat: Carl Crawford - When he gets on base he's fast....but with 10 K's he's not going anywhere.

bRight & Early - 12
webcats - 1
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! You got knocked the F@#$ OUT! bRight was 7 K's shy of a shut-out here. Ouch. I guess it makes up for 4 losing weeks in a row. Cats fall even further into the last place hole.
Game MVP: bRight - 62/201 with 11 home runs37 RBI's, 36 Runs, and 13 stolen bases...in just hitting!
Game Goat: Jeff Suppan - 0-1 giving up 13 runs in 11 innings, and after giving up 9 in just 4 2/3, how he didn't get the loss still amazes me.

RFTR - 8
PFB - 3 (Ties in Stolen Bases and Losses)
RFTR continues to win despite the fact that he never looks at his team. He'll rarely win in the win and K column, but with his batting being good, and only having 3 starters and 2 relievers, it's hard to beat his ERA and lack of losses.
Game MVP: Alex Rodriguez - This makes the 4th week he's been an MVP. 9/21 with 3 HR's, 10 RBI's, 9 Runs, and a stolen base.
Game Goat: Pitching - Both teams sucked at it with ERA's hovering around the 4.8 mark.

Leones de Yucatan - 9
Big Damn Heroes - 2 (Ties in Stolen Bases and Wins)
The Lions just keep pace every week with Tyler and although they can't close in, he makes for a sure 2nd place. After closing in when he played Tyler, he's now just laying and waiting in the weeds to pounce.
Game MVP: Adam Dunn - 12/24 with 4 Home Runs, 8 RBI's, and 6 Runs. Now if only he can fix those 7 K's.
Game Goat: Jason Bay - 4/23 with 9 K's and not much else.

Maximum Poo - 10
Joe's Keizer Killers - 3
That's how you come back from a loss. And actually ,with this, he stays even with Vex, and although he doesn't get over .300 for batting, he still takes the majority of batting, and all the pitching.
Game MVP: Justin Morneau - 7/19 with 3 home runs 8 RBI's, 8 Runs, and only 1 K.
Game Goat: Livan Hernandez - 4 innings, 7 earned, and only one K with a WHIP of 3.5

Well, that's this week's games, and here's a look at the match-ups for this week. Next week I'll have the ranks posted.

Your Week 12 picture is wrong - that's the week 13 picture. In week 12 I got my ass kicked by those damn Baby eating Robots.
